Laura Melton Tucker, a family and divorce mediator for the 6th Judicial Court District, is certified through the Iowa Association of Mediators (IAM). She served six years as a mediator for the Johnson County Small Claims Court and has served on the board of Mediation Services of Eastern Iowa (MSEI), a non-profit organization.
Laura is also a psychotherapist at The Counseling Center of Iowa City. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She earned a Master of Arts in Education at Stanford University and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Mount Mercy University.
In addition to her counseling work with couples, families and individuals, Laura has been a Family Circle Facilitator for the Iowa City Housing Authority and a Peace Circle Facilitator on a Lifetime TV program. Laura has also been an active school volunteer, a docent at the University of Iowa Art Museum, and has served as President of Old Capitol Toastmasters in Iowa City. Iowa City has been Laura’s home since 1990.
